With over 25 years of experience in finance and accounting Scott McGinness offers services to target real estate investments that are undervalued due to vacancies, sub-optimal management, inefficient current uses, deferred maintenance, long-term undervalued leases or other unfavorable market conditions, and applies a hands-on approach to value-added investing.
Scott McGinness oversees all of the financial and administrative activities for a nationwide operator and value-added investor focused on the U.S. industrial real estate sector. As Chief Financial Officer, Scott McGinness offers his real estate investment and management services to Cohen Asset Management and is responsible for the finance and administration of Cohen Asset Management's portfolio of assets, including joint ventures, comingled funds and separate accounts. Scott McGinness has overall operational oversight for debt financings, treasury management, investment accounting and reporting, information technology, risk management and regulatory compliance. Scott McGinness holds a seat on Cohen Asset Management's Investment Committee
Born and raised in Southern California, Scott McGinness earned his acceptance as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California following his studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he graduated with a degree in business economics. Prior to joining Cohen Asset Management, Scott McGinness was a member of the finance teams at both publicly traded and privately owned real estate operators, managing the financial and regulatory reporting, systems and compliance areas for each company. Scott McGinness was raised in San Diego and started his career in Los Angeles with the Business Assurance practice of Coopers & Lybrand, LLP
